Harnessing the Power of Social Media for Recruiting [Infographic]
Clearly, social media has many applications when it comes to growth and marketing for businesses. But have you tried using it in your recruiting efforts?
Social media has been getting a lot of attention lately in the hiring and recruitment world, as a you’ll see in Betterteam’s infographic below. It’s a tough hiring market – right now the amount of time it takes to fill a position is at an all time high, and businesses are getting more and more worried about the cost of positions that go unfilled. Recruiters expect the problem to only get worse.
This is where social media comes in. About 75 percent of potential hires are not actively searching for a job. So ads that you post to Craigslist, Indeed, etc. probably aren’t reaching a huge percentage of candidates. But these so called “passive candidates” can be reached via social media. Companies, recruiters and hiring managers are catching on, and now many businesses are making social media part of their hiring strategy.
But it’s not a perfect fix.
As you’ll see, passive candidates aren’t exactly the same as people who were actively looking for jobs. As Peter Gibbons of Office Space would say, “It’s a problem of motivation.” This can lead to candidates that don’t perform well once they’re in the position. Just watch what happens when the world’s most obnoxious boss gives social recruiting a try.
Ok, we hope that really helped you understand the benefits of using social media for recruiting, how to use it better, and how to avoid some of the potential pitfalls. Looking to improve your overall digital marketing?
